Henry VII

Henry VII is famous for being King of England and starting the Tudor dynasty.

  • 1457: His father, Edmund Tudor, dies before Henry is born at Pembroke Castle.
  • 1471: Henry and his uncle Jasper fled to Brittany for 14 years after the final defeat of the Lancastrians.
  • 1485: Henry and his uncle landed at Mill Bay Milford Haven on 7 August.
  • Henry travelled through South wales to Shrewsbury, and on 22 August, Richard III was killed on Bosworth field, and Henry was crowned King in his place.
  • He used his family connections with Wales to win the support of the Welsh in his campaign to claim the Crown.
  • 1486: Henry VII marries Elizabeth of York.
  • 1486: September – His eldest son, Arthur, is born.
  • 1491: Henry VIII is born.
  • 1502: Arthur, his eldest son dies.
  • 1503: His wife, Elizabeth of York dies.
